aastha, although i haven't known you for long (although it definitely feels like i have), i'd just like to say i am so, so proud of you, and you've inspired me so much! although our words are through screens and we're miles away, i'm grateful that i've known you and talking with you and mihi always, always brightens my day! :) i'm so excited for your books and i will be sending you mini-rants on every piece you've written in the books so beware <3 thank you for being here, and i am looking forward to seeing even more of your awesomeness !! :)
Congrats! I have a manuscript rn, 5 years in the making (the poems, I mean). The intention for making the collection started about a year ago.
Perfectionism definitely getting in the way, but it's alright. It might take me another year to publish it (hoping to submit to a few presses first atleast), but I think I'll be proud of it when I do.
It's gonna be an interesting experience for sure. I'm working with a best-selling poet and editor from singapore, so the collection should come out stronger than it is now, God willing.
Oh wow! I really wish you the best of luck. This sounds incredible! My collection is not as ambitious for sure. But your work sounds fantastic -- I hope to read it soon :D
Aastha what the fuck tysm for mentioning me in such a vulnerable yet big post. First of all, I'm so so proud of you. I know we don't know eachother at all but God I'm so proud of you. I'm praying your books do well and if I can I'll buy them as well!!! It is genuinely incredible work to publish your writing and that AT 17 YEARS OLD. WOW. You deserve so much credit for being able to write and publish your stuff so early in life while going on w normal life aswell. I will be flexing to my kids that you use to comment on my things once in a while when you go famous btw. But frfr, amazing post, great writing and congratulations!!! I hope the books do well and I hope you're doing well. MashAllah on everything, your writing the impressing work the publishing. All of it. ♡♡
AASTHA, IM SO SO SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!💗💗💗💗 this was such a beautiful read and i can’t tell you how in awe i am of your vulnerability and how that shines through in your beautiful writing! two collections of poetry that i already know will be stunning and evocative and a gift to the world! you are everything 17 year old me wishes she was. heck, you’re everything 24 year old me wishes i am! i’m so very excited to get my hands on those books (and best believe i will!) congratulations, aastha💗🧿
I faintly remember you showing me the first book in school.. I can't believe you published it finally, CONGRATULATIONSSS AAAAA but also those covers remind me so much of Barbara Kruger's works, also the subtle hinting (if it was intended) with "When Bodies Become Battlegrounds" of "Your Body is a Battleground" 🙏 really love it.
Aastha!!! Congratulations on publishing books . No matter what you think of them publishing them in itself is a huge deal you should be proud of yourself!!!!!! Thankyou for the mention<3 it means a lot to me that you like what i write. PUBLISHING IS HUGE CONGRATULATIONS
cg on publishing!! I've only known you for a short period of time, and though I don't know you that well, your dedication and detailed writing never fails to impress, and I am so so happy for you <33
I just read your peice and I just can't tell enough how much I could relate to your words.
Especially the part where you spoke about imposter syndrome about not being good enough.
I have personally gone through that phase where I started working on poems and stories but I was never able to bring myself to complete them because I felt I would not be making a difference in the world.
But the reason I started writing on substack because I wanted to feel heard. I hardly speak to new people and feel out of place in a Gen Z society where everyone is into social media.
Anyways I am glad I found your work!!!!
I absolutely love your work and keep going, because your work good enough to leave an impression on this platform.
This is amazing! Publishing two different pieces before being a legal adult is just a testimony to your relentless work ethic and generational skill!
I'm really proud of you, for going through with this and hopefully it turns out to be a defining moment in your academic career.
I wish you all the success, my personal Substack counsel. Keep the younger generation of writers proud and inspired!
Much love ❤️ ~ J.P
(Shameless plug but on the probable event of you becoming very famous - I WAS HERE, PEOPLE)
